My terrazzo flooring by @mosaic.factory in all its pink and green glory! You can blame lockdown for a lot of things. But it definitely got my creative juices flowing.
I started to produce my ceramic collections for @thyme.england on our kitchen floor (boy was that messy) while Tom stared out the window, daydreaming of redesigning our garden.
His desire for reworking our space, coupled with my dream of having my own studio aligned. And the result of much love and time is finished. Almost...
The garden is starting to be planted slowly and will take time but the beautiful terrazzo stone we designed with @mosaic.factory looks glorious. I used their tiles in Ibiza and love working with them as you can really choose colours and tile shapes and mix and match what they do. I loved the bespoke nature of choosing the cement base colour and then the colour and size of our marble chips. We also opted for different shapes, our patio is 60cm hexagonal while our pink in the studio are 80cm squares. It’s the perfect way to Segway from the green of our living room to the green of the garden.
The studio is clad in mill board. Which makes it super hard wearing and easy to clean. We used the same on our decking areas in the garden and chose a charred wood effect.
The interior of the studio was all Tom. He loved the idea of an industrial looking hand poured cement sink (which my builders cleverly added a clay trap to) and surround paired with simple plywood boards. But with a 3mm shadow gap for a play on panelling. And of course the playfulness of my pink terrazzo to set it off.
Shelving are scaffolding boards mounted on old cast iron brackets.
My Rhode kiln is next door in it’s very own well ventilated room and my oak work station set just beneath the giant window overlooking the garden is the most meditative place to sit.
As you can imagine I don’t want to leave. The perfect place to plot my next journey with @dbceramic
