respect the elements and make adjustments. last summer coming off this trip to block island with my family i dinged up my quad while training for boston, interfering with what was supposed to be my peak week of training. perfect example of learning from mistakes - this time around i’m being very mindful of how much intensity i’m adding to my training runs. opting for flatter out and backs for speed work, taking some pace off hilly long runs and stashing hydration and gels where necessary to get extra fueling in.
