Great architecture should acknowledge the buildings that came before it! In the historic city of Poznan, our project Baltyk is a mixed-use building on the site of the old Baltyk cinema, from which the project takes its name.
The 25,000-square-metre building contains offices, a panorama restaurant and retail. With its unique shape, the design provides a cascade of terraces on the south side, while responding to the public spaces at its base - resulting in a building that looks radically different from every viewing angle.
With its façade, the project references a nearby icon of modernism, the Okrąglak (Rotunda) designed by Marek Leykam. Floor-to-ceiling glass is overlaid with a narrow grid of louvres made of glass-fibre concrete, softening the impact of the sun without losing the vistas over the city and zoo. Swipe to see more!
