A narrative from last summer 💭 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But Sonya, why aren't you talking about this summer? For some reason, I thought about this particular moment a lot as I stood on many summits this year. After descending from one of the most physically and mentally challenging hikes I had done, we were playing roulette with the clouds, gambling on a colorful sunset before having to scramble down in darkness to return to our campsite. As we were watching our dinner cook, I finally saw a break in the clouds, I called out to Tiffanie who then quickly retrieved her camera, and we started creating some magic together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Summer this year looked very different for me - most of the time I was focusing on surviving a mountaineering objective, rather than spending hours waiting for the right conditions to snap a gorgeous memory. If I could write all my summits into a song, this backpacking trip would be the prelude. Although I haven't been able to chase the golden light as much as my time in the mountains allows to, preserving through challenging situations, is still something that I practice a lot on many final push. I almost gave up on climbing up to the ridge past this lake, I almost wanted to call it a night and return to my sleeping bag, but when those narratives run wild in my head, I pushed it one more time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ w/ my adventure girl who always gets the shot @photosby.tiff
