This last week we launched PERFORM - a new podcast from @scicommedia with @drandygalpin and the first episode covers how to build a strong and healthy heart. And of course, nutrition plays a role in that, but there are things that we all can and should do to build a strong and healthy heart because it has a direct relationship to longevity and overall health, including brain health.

This slide summarizes one of the key takeaways from that episode. Some of you out there may prefer to measure your heart rate precisely using any number of different technologies. Others may prefer to use more subjective measures of intensity and max heart rate.

In any case, the parameters outlined here will support your efforts toward physical health and longevity, and of course, benefit endurance and indirectly, cognition, sleep, mood, and wellbeing (given there are many studies on the mental and physical effects of doing cardiovascular training).
