This is an important one. I am sometimes cynical about romantic love (ironic for a wedding photographer, I know). Not because I don’t believe in it, but because I have been hurt quite badly in the past. The wounds have healed, but the deep scars remain. My therapist suggested that I find ‘Anchor Relationships’ - people whose relationships inspire me. To use these couples as a guide, evidence of trust, and as proof that Love Is Real. Lorne and Rachel - clients turned friends - have become one of those Anchors. They are renewing their vows today because - in spite of Lorne’s recent Stage IV Cancer diagnosis - they choose love. They choose each other. They celebrate their days and nights with their toddler, Riley, and await the imminent arrival of their second child next month. Rachel and Lorne teach me vulnerability and what true intimacy looks like. They teach me determination and team work. They teach me to celebrate your partner for exactly who they are.
