A musical hero, a unicorn, a visionary, a human activist, @jaimiebranch is an inspiration in authenticity and an example for self celebration and that of others. This photo was taken a week after we first met while in residency at @pioneerworks in 2018. she came to the studio, introduced herself and asked if she could interview me for a local newspaper and only later I found out she was the famous @intlanthem artist jaimie branch. How humble, sweet and sensitive of her! We hung out a bunch in the weeks to come and ended up recording several jams, one of which resulted being one of the single tracks on my album Pioneered. The tune, entitled “The Elite”, features jaimie’s echo-heavy trumpet (like @raspberryjones defined it) and @valjeanty on turnatbles. At the end of the track you can hear jaimie dramatically saying “mic drop”. And that’s exactly what you did, sweet angel, you dropped the mic on a high and extended note keeping us suspended yet elevated by your actions, words, poetry and sounds. We had touched base only three weeks ago to possibly play @nublunyc at the beginning of this month, you said you were down but maybe going on a vacation trip. I never heard back from you since and I was confident we were going to have so many more chances to do that. These are heavy days yet more than ever I’m so grateful for all the worldwide community of like minded individuals who are so invested in leaving a legacy of expression and depth. I feel part of a greater family with a mission to connect on deeper levels through music and visionary concepts. I love you jaimie! Thank you for leading the way and setting the bar so up high!
