When I was at an art fair this past weekend, I bumped into a very nice woman who took a look at my outfit and said “I love your blouse, is it vintage?” To which I replied, “It’s actually from a brand called ‘Princess Highway.’” She went on to say how nice and cheerful she thought the blouse was. After I thanked her and walked away I thought about how that was such an excellent way to describe it. The primary colors, the chicken print, the big frilly collar all make me feel this indescribable sense of joy whenever I put it on. The point of this story is to say: Wear clothes that bring you joy. Wear clothes that make you feel confident, or cool, or quirky, or whatever it is that you aspire to be. Fashion is not about what you think you “should” wear or what you think others want you to wear.
