I have always loved and admired my mother, we came to America when I was very young. Living in the US was not easy for us, my mother worked long days and nights to support our family. We entered a new world that was completely different than what we were used to. To her it was a land of opportunity, The American Dream. For me, it was a modern land filled with beauty and endless opportunities. Although we lived in a different country, the one thing my mother always taught me to keep my traditional values -- my traditional roots. I started off my career in the industry as a makeup artist. I used the modern Asian American women as my canvas. I found passion in the ability to enhance and define their natural features. My mother was my inspiration, she was my definition of true beauty. From there, I evolved and went further into the industry. Now after 20 years of evolution in the industry, I’ve come to realize that beauty is beyond just a beautiful face -- beauty can create an impact. When I think about the past there are so many that come to mind but one of the biggest would be the legendary and iconic -- Marilyn Monroe. She will always be Hollywood’s biggest star. In the present, I would say the bold and daring Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga has proven to the world that her real and true talents are beyond the stereotypical and for that she’s made her mark in history. Personally, in all the years in the industry the ability to work with such amazing talented individuals from directors, photographers, to stylists and models has molded me and inspired me to create my own impact. To take the beauty of the past and present worldwide and create something bold, new and daring of the future to Her World Magazine is my impact. I want to revolutionize and showcase the hidden gems and beauty Vietnam has to offer.
