Our only endemic marine mammal the Australian Sea Lion 🦭 is at risk of extinction. These unique creatures are found along the southern and western coasts of Australia and have numbers dwindling down to an estimated 6500 individual adults. Commercial fishing pressures 🕸 combined with long reproductive cycles and small population sizes are increasing extinction risk for these sea lions. . To help prevent this, @marineconservation.au are working with scientists, government and fisheries to come up with a solution to ensure these Sea Lion colonies are protected 🌊 . @sarahandsebastian have created limited edition hats 🧢 with all the proceeds being donated to The Australian Marine Conservation Society to support their mission in saving our sea lions. .
