In 2022, there was so much to be grateful for. I celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. @CaptMarkKelly was reelected to the US Senate. A documentary about our life and my recovery was released, which took me to SXSW and beyond. I threw the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game. I met fellow survivors of gun violence, made new friends, and celebrated the passage of the first major gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years. There was also so much that drove me to fight harder for a better future. As gun violence ravaged communities from Uvalde to Buffalo, we channeled our anger into action and demanded change from our leaders. They heeded our call. As a conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court overturned Roe and issued a dangerous ruling on gun safety, Americans took to the ballot box and made it clear where they stand on abortion access and gun violence. As we reflect on the past year and look ahead to the year to come, I want you all to know that I’m proud to stand in this fight with you, and I will never stop fighting for the safe future our children deserve.
