The spotted eagle ray, with its graceful swimming style and strikingly white speckled pattern across their inky backs, makes them one of the most photogenic fish in the world, and a personal favorite of mine to be in the water with! Their patterns, not only beautiful, are unique like a finger print, and can be used to identify individual animals. According to some research, their conservation status is near threatened, with a population that is decreasing sadly. Along with its natural predators like sharks, they are often caught as by catch in fisheries targeting other species.
