I am so thrilled and honored to announce Kitchen Sink Festival, a benefit concert that’ll happen in Los Angeles in November, to raise money and awareness to the @hollywoodfoodco , an organization that has been feeding the food insecure population of Los Angeles since 1987 every single day of the year. During the pandemic I became a helping hand at their kitchen every Sunday by invitation of my dear old friend @william_lemon , the head chef there. I’ve always loved cooking but being a part of that kitchen was way beyond that, it became something sacred to me, something I wouldn’t miss for anything, the best time of the week. We pump the boombox and we improv delicious meals, and we have a blast doing it. I always walk out feeling I’ve gotten more than I’ve given, its just a wonderful feeling. Over time, Will started giving me more responsibility in the kitchen and that became another gift, a great cooking school for me. I remember sweating nervously the first few times I was the chef in charge, opening the donation fridge in the morning to figure out what to cook for what was sometimes hundreds of people, thinking he was nuts to hand me the baton. Eventually, Will and @devendrabanhart , another old friend and helping hand there, thought of expanding out of the kitchen and using our music to bring more to those we love to cook for. The whole team put their energy into it and here we are, the first edition of Kitchen Sink Festival is up! I hope that this is the launch of a new tradition, it deserved it be. Thank you all at the Hollywood Food Coalition for the outstanding work that you do every day to feed people in need, and thank you for showing us how good it feels to give my time and heart to those who need us I hope to see you all there!
