She was the only one of her siblings born with a beautiful face and golden hair according to poet Ovid, making her a target for a horny Poseidon, who raped her in the temple of Athena. On top of being assaulted she was punished by the armed wisdom goddess to become a hideous monster, so ugly that she’d turn people to stone just by looking at her. She was later on decapitated by Perseus to be used as a weapon and gift. Medusa got pregnant from the unfortunate sexual encounter and her two unborn children sprouted out of her neck as the blade sliced her throat.
