Half term- kids apple pudding Ok so it’s stewed apples but all in the marketing right? My daughter always laps this up and it’s so easy to make for all the family. Apples are a brilliant fruit to get into your diet - and if like me you struggle to eat them as they come- this recipe gives an Ayurvedic twist to make them softer, sweeter even easier to digest thanks to the spices. Apples contain both soluble and insoluble fibre which helps to regulate bowel movements. It also contains prebiotics to help feed the good bacteria in your gut. And as we know - in Ayurveda your gut health is everything. To make this simple treat I can ash the apples really well first. Then chop 1-2 up into small chunks and place in a saucepan with a lid. Add 1-2tbsp water, 3 whole cloves, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of vanilla. Let them simmer with the lid on very gently for 8 minutes. Take off heat and leave a little longer with the lid on then serve. Don’t be tempted to add things like yoghurt, custard or ice cream: I know it might taste nice but fruits should ideally be eaten alone according to ayurveda and not with dairy. Tell me if your kids like it - and don’t forget it’s apple PUDDING not stewed apples 😘🤣💛
