Thrilled to join the @sundanceorg Screenwriters Intensive Fellows while developing the screenplay for “Chiaroscuro” — my next feature film. It’s a complicated time for good news. But it always has been. Later, if we are remembered at all, we will be remembered for the ways we chose to respond to the events around us. Who did our stories serve? What hurt did they cause? And who have they continued to heal? The responsibility lies with us. To weave stories that depict us as all that we are. To create images that recall our present and future regality. To leave those who will come after us with memories they will run towards, instead of a home they turn away from. If you have a daughter, or a son, you might appreciate why there can be no other artistic mission above this. “Chiaroscuro” aspires to be one of those stories.
