I remember when I bought my first professional product at a hair salon. I was 14. It was my first bob. And it was @redken Wax Blast. Ever since I was in middle school I knew in my gut, I was going to be a hairstylist. I changed my hair every month. I was a frequent flyer at beauty supply stores. Let’s be honest- most of these colors were done with a highlighting cap. I made a vow to myself as I clutched that can of Wax Blast and looked my mom square in the eye and said “I’m going to work for Redken one day”. I wanted to be at shows, I wanted to see New York, I wanted to teach, and most of all- I wanted to be GOOD. Fast forward 12 years after cosmetology school and I’ve now taught in hundreds of salons, worked dozens of shows, educated coast to coast, lived in LA, presented in front of hundreds of people at a time, and all while working for the brand I swore I would work for when I was 14. I wish I could tell you it was easy. That I never cried. Never doubted myself. Never felt small or little. That would be a lie. Dreams are funny things. I’ve learned to grow and spread my wings and reach for things despite the fear of rejection and being told “no”. Cheers to growth, goals, and dreams.
