The Love Manifesto “I am deserving of true love. Love will come to me soon in its many forms. I give myself permission to accept the love. Permission to love others. Permission to love myself. I am deserving of love. Love flows to me, through me, and out of me. I wear my rose quartz necklace and shower myself with rose soap. I am deserving of self-love. I am deserving of self-nourishment. I am mindful. I am ‘bodyful.” I am joy. I am Love.” These words spilled out of me in a time of need. When I felt I was slipping out from under myself I would read this mantra and be brought back to center. Whether I believed it or not in that moment, I spoke those words, therefore on some level they must be true. Love is tricky. It can’t be chased, it can’t be planned, and it cannot be imposed. Love can flow one way, or both ways. Fill you up or drain you down. It flurries around us daily. Invisible to the eyes but visible to the soul. And if our corporate lives didn’t pull us from this, maybe we could come to sense it more clearly. Each year on this day I have felt love in its many other forms. A mini box of chocolates from a friend in elementary school. My father make-shifting a fine dining experience for me and my sisters in middle school. Celebrating with my grandfather on his last Valentine’s Day in high school. Treating myself to a dinner and movie in college. Love is out there, you just gotta follow the feelings that lead you to it. Easier said than done of course. Happy Valentine’s Day. May you feel the love flurry around you today and every day.
