We’re sending a huge wave 🌊 of congratulations to WADE IN THE WATER, for their recent wins at Sofia Arts Film Award for “Best Quarantine Film”, and “Best Culture Film” at the Mannheim Arts and Film Festival in Germany. We recently had the privilege of hosting a sneak peek screening and panel discussion with the filmmakers from the West Coast and local surfing groups from the East Coast; @black_surfing_rockaway, @stop_playinwithem and @stationsurfshop, to talk about the history of Black surfing, how wonderful communities are forming around the sport all over the world, and, of course, where you can find the best breaks (Rockaway was a favorite). Special thank you to @theskinnyfatcook for providing a phenomenal Ethiopian meal, and @taleabeer for providing beverages to raise money for Black Surfing Rockaway, and all who attended for bringing your joy of surfing to Brooklyn.
