3 years ago on July 13, 2019 I married my best friend, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made ❤️ Our morning started with fresh waffles and chai. We had a total of 12 guests and said our vows under a forest canopy with a family friend officiating. We released over 100 live butterflies during our ceremony to signify the 100 months we’d been dating, and they actually felt like hanging out with us humans more than we expected. We ran away to a favorite waterfall and reveled in our “just married” feels. I wore a 10 ft long veil with hand-sewn lace butterflies. I ripped a hole in my dress on a tree root, and made a typo in my vows which I noticed during the ceremony and felt I should announce to everyone 😂. We ate a cake with red velvet & confetti flavors.⁣ ⁣ We embraced a darker, moodier vibe with twinkle lights, silver candelabras (no fire ban at the time!) and mossy fern-goodness. We ended the night with brandy & s’mores & hot tubbing & sleep. Everyone came together and created so much magic for us and we didn’t even have to lift a finger which I’m still so grateful for.⁣ ⁣ Also I pulled off my biggest surprise to date during our first look that had both Colin & I crying endless happy tears. I had reached out to one of his favorite bands @owelband and commissioned them to write & record a custom song about our love story - w/ references to our long distance, gestures of love we’ve done, both of our proposals, and words we’ve spoken to each other. ❤️ (It’s called “Lighthouse” and is playing in this video! The band loved it so much so we gave them the 👍 to release it publicly on their deluxe edition of an album.
