Sara Zewde (@zewdiac) is one of only 13 Black female landscape architects in the United States. That’s right, THIRTEEN. For our final episode of the semester, it seems fitting then that we explore what it means to have a black femme perceptivity on land, its uses, and its histories.
It’s important that we know that public parks were invented and created out of abolitionist thought. It’s important to know that our fragile southern coastlines are remnants of the plant monoculture of slavery, making future extreme weather events (like Hurricane Katrina), more likely.
Be on the lookout as @blackimagination gets physical... this summer at The Oculus.
Stay curious, and keep dreaming.
