My main question is this, why isn’t grit among the top priorities of education and child rearing? I believe it should be. For it to be a priority, it has to be tested amongst a variety of environments, not just academics. I say this to debunk the idea that academic coursework produces grit. It may, but it can’t be guaranteed across a variety of settings. For the development of true grit, we must consistently challenge our children in new and challenging activities. It can’t be one dimensional. New and challenging activities that produce the opportunity for failure. Failure is an opportunity. It is opportunity to develop a growth mindset, and growth mindset is key to the development of grit. It’s one of the primary reasons I am a nature based occupational therapist. You see, if as a therapist, I can provide therapeutic activities that produce grit in the child, then it’s a successful treatment program. If a child possesses grit, they will persevere in life. That my friends...PERSEVERANCE IN LIFE, is the ultimate goal of OT ❤️ #grit #growthmindset #challengeaccepted #outdoorkids #raisethemoutdoors #perserverance #specialneedsparenting #failureispartofsuccess #wildandfreechildren #parentingtips #parenting #education #oteducation #occupationaltherapy #occupationaltherapist #ot #oteducation
