This past weekend was nothing short of amazing ... and trailblazing!! Having the opportunity to return back to the bluff my alma mater @duquesneuniversity and work alongside so many great individuals to help give back and create opportunities for current and prospective students!! Thursday night we hosted a free game panel... where a panel of established alumni across a variety of career fields came and spoke their truth (about their Duquesne experience) where the topic featured was “uncomfortable spaces.” It was amazing to see us all connect, grow, speak our truth and move the needle forward for the next by “sharing game!” Friday @dwade_tookthat and myself gave away free photography head shots to current undergrad and graduate students to give them a jump start on success and building their professional portfolio! Saturday morning we hosted the annual @blackonthebluff_duq alumni tailgate DJ’d by @wadeanthonyjr where the vibes were immaculate! Saturday night we turn’t burn up per useee lol. Sunday morning I was blessed with the opportunity to be sworn in as @duqalumni inaugural first President of the University’s Black Alumni Association! Not to mention present 18 founders with a plaque acknowledging all of their hard work in getting the association “officialized.” And, before hitting the road... we broke bread at brunch #2 with (The Board) 4 of the most solid individuals I met in my time at Duquesne who all have a heart to serve, giveback and grow the experience for the ones coming after us! When choosing where to go to school coming out of high school... I fought my pops day in and out to allow me to attend @duquesneuniversity because it “just felt like home.” 12 years later I’m just trying continue to show him that was one of the best decisions he’s ever made! And, be the person we (undergrad students) felt we always would’ve wanted to connect with, learn from and build with.
