Dad used to bang on about climate change in architecture in the 80s when everyone thought he was mad and it was a joke subject. Now he gets asked on national radio to talk about how houses need to be better equipped and learn from robust heat-repelling Middle Eastern architecture and even our own past when everywhere had shutters. He designed and built his own eco house on a plot of land in Newark. It took him YEARS to get planning permission for an eco house. The council thought it would be ‘unsightly’.
