Our journey followed age old trade routes that took us from Mohkinstsis deep into the Asiniwaciya. Along those routes, we met with medicine people, elders and artists. One such artist is a Cree man named Jason Carter. Jason’s work is bold and bright, duly informed both by the landscapes he calls home and the animals who have walked with the people since time immemorial. Some of those people are his. For a better look into his world, check out the @thecarterryangallery either online or in person at their Canmore or Banff locations. You won’t regret it. And should you happen to meet the man himself, you will come to feel where the warmth of his work is generated. Maarsii/Kinanâskomitin for sharing your gifts Jason! 🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶 @indigenous.tourism.alberta “My people will sleep for one hundred years, but when they awake, it will be the artists who give them their spirit back.” Louis Riel #artistsoninstagram #indigenousart #beautifulart #indigenoustourism #indigenoustourismalberta
