SWIPE for full goodness! This weekend was so busy! Our film was nominated for two awards for the @micheauxfilmfest at the Regal Cinema in Downtown, Los Angeles. Last night we took home the award for Outsanding Documentary Short! WOW!! I’m just so grateful that people are seeing this film and seeing black people and their locs being loved, celebrated and seen! There are so many people still dealing with the stereotypes of our locs so hopefully they receive this love letter! And thanks to Micheaux for acknowledging this film and honoring it for this category! We did it team! We had a time last night! Thank you to everyone that supported this film! Everyone who donated for this film to be made, thank you to my cast and especially my crew! My director @jahbrielle literally my eye, my vision, my producer @khadijahfanaka who was on it from the min she got on this project, the real MVP, my AD @jazzyeditorial whose just as passionate about this film as me lol, set day was amazing because of you, all of our CAST and CREW, and big thanks to my fav and the MUA of the film and the best MUA in LA who also beat my face last night @erica.lorene I felt so beautiful last night! Thank you for being there, always supporting, through the whole process, doing more than any normal MUA would! They don’t know the many hats you wear but they will! We were in the trenches together and I’m glad to be able to be in this journey with you! Thank you @hooraemedia for seeing the vision early and supporting us! We really couldn’t have done it without you! I love all yall! We have more festivals coming prayerfully so this is just the beginning! Hopefully we can win in STL and Chicago so I can bring it to the Midwest! Thank you to @iamdemarkojames for supporting and being there last night to capture! He also got ya girl body looking good cause he’s my trainer. But literally knew how to work the room, knew half of everyone in the room lol! Thank you!! Shoutout to my roomie @destanyeb for coming in and helping me with my hair. Ya girl press on nails weren’t letting her be great! Lol. You executed the vision perfectly!
