We started working on the deck on June 7th and have been tinkering away at it for the past two months, but we’re finally fully done! Well, minus stain which you have to wait a few months to do anyway. A huge selling point of this house was the enormous back yard with glorious, uninterrupted views of the mountains. We immediately knew we had to take full advantage of it, and an old concrete foundation (formerly an outbuilding) was already situated in the ideal sunset vantage point, so we decided to build the deck on top of it which saved us a lot of time, money and effort instead of demoing it. Also, the tree and lilac bush that arch over provide the loveliest shade on sunny days. This is just the beginning of a long list of outdoor projects, first thing next spring we’re going to start prepping for a firepit, each of our existing decks connected to the house need rebuilding, at some point I’ll start a garden, I want to have wildflower-lined stone pathways connecting each space, and so, so much more. We definitely will never get bored here! For now, we’re enjoying every last bit of summer right here on the deck. #deck #backyard #landscaping #oldhouse
