"emergence: visions" is named after the duet album "Visions" by American jazz artists Walt Dickerson and Sun Ra, and is made almost entirely from donated yarns.
Each painting in Davis' "emergence" series progresses through an instinctual process of listening and response—a practice stemming from the artist’s vocal and gestural training in improvisation. The speed of the tufting machine informs spontaneous changes in movement, color, material, and technique. -- Kristin Juarez
This work is included in Sonia Louise Davis' "resonant frequencies, blossoming tones" which is on view through October 1, 2022. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 11am-6pm. Please come by!
