Earlier this year, I was scrolling thru IG and the trailer came up for @thebearfx followed by @themenufilm. Both caught my attention and I wondered if they would be as good as the video clips I had just seen. Most of you know that The Bear went on to be a huge, buzzed-about hit. Now it’s The Menu’s turn, as it opens tomorrow. I saw a screening a few months ago and was pretty rocked. If you thought The Bear needed a trigger warning, just wait. The Menu makes The Bear look like Bambi. If you work in the food world and are planning to go see it, be mentally prepared. The director, writers, and producers, some of whom worked on Succession and Game of Thrones, call the film a satire, but I think the restaurant world will find its take on chefs, restaurants, and the one percent pretty dark and very thought provoking. The film is also mesmerizing, with impeccable performances from the cast and an incredible set. I interviewed Chef @dominiquecrenn, who served as culinary director for the film, and she has a fascinating take on The Menu. You can read what she had to say in the latest issue of @cherrybombe or via link in bio. Anyone going to see The Menu? If you do, DM me! I want to know what you think. #themenu
