The holidays used to be a stressful time for me, I would be extremely stressed about my body. I would be hyper-aware of whatever amount of food I was eating and had to eat in front of other people. I was stressed about how I was going to get rid of the “extra” weight that would come with December. I was harming myself with these negative thoughts. The negative self-talk got so far that I didn’t feel good enough, no matter how thin I became.
As someone who has been through years of anorexia and boulimia, I can understand that the holidays can be a difficult time for you, mentally. But please remember that you are enough. You are good enough. There are people who want you to heal, who want you to talk with them and tell them what is really going on. There is people that care for you and your mental and physical wellbeing. You matter. You are important enough to be cared about. Please do not forget this. If nobody reminds you of these things, let it be this post that reminds you to give yourself some kindness and love.
Healing starts with you. It starts with one act of kindness towards your body, maybe therapy, maybe friends, maybe family. You can do this. It does get easier.
Whenever I have a bad body-image day, I feel insecure and start negative self-talk, I like to come on here and share my experience, because that’s what I wish I had when I was struggling.
Nourish your body these holidays with foods that make you feel good. Don’t let the “New Year, New Me”- Diet Culture get to you. Your body is counting on you. ❤️
