1 million streams. all independent. no labels, no major playlists, no manager. i am so blessed and i wanna thank all of u for being here on this journey with me it’s kinda mind boggling to reflect on my list of goals for the year, because ‘1 million plays on spotify’ felt like one of THOSE goals. the ones that feel embarrassing to even DARE write down because your brain is like “get real, how the hell do you expect that to happen?” i started the summer with 3k monthly listeners. when i recorded this song, i thought it was going to be a cute little loosie right before my project (🫣). i had no idea it was going to turn into this. at the same time, everyone who was in this session knew this song had something special about it. if you make music i’m sure you can recall any session you’ve had where everyone in the room is fully buzzing with energy after a really good one. that feeling. you know the one. after the session, i took the tube back to my hotel, but instead of going inside, i walked up, down, and around all the surrounding streets, and listened to the song over and over again in my headphones. and yet, i still doubted whether it was ‘good enough’ and wondered if it would ever even see the light of day. but.. right before i released it, i said it was going to be my first song to do a million. and here we are. i just didn’t think it was going to happen so fast lol but that makes me excited for what’s to come. what other seemingly distant goal or milestone will come before i know it? but here i am already thinking about what’s next lol. i am trying to soak up this moment and think about how out of my mind my 12th grade self would be- the one who dropped her first song on SoundCloud and was ecstatic to even get 100 plays. this is my first million and I’ll always have this moment.. but u better believe I’m already thinking of how I’m going to get my next one lol love all of you so much and I’m just happy to be here, so thank you for having me. special shout out to @ken_samson and @w.w.ill for providing the vibes that day and @connorbarkhouse for the excellent mixing and mastering that we know and love xx Frex 🧡
