Angie's most memorable Thanksgiving was the first one she spent with TreeHouse—a nonprofit dedicated to restoring hope in teens through mentorship, meals and more. "I'd never had a Thanksgiving up until that point, and I was just so taken aback," Angie says. "They told us that they were thankful for us, for being us, which I never heard." Angie started attending TreeHouse as a 14-year-old after a friend told her she could get a free meal. They soon became a place of refuge from her unstable home situation throughout high school. Today, Angie is a store manager and is giving back to TreeHouse through The Starbucks Foundation's Neighborhood Grants program, which supports local community organizations that have been nominated by Starbucks partners (employees). "I just feel so happy that they were able to get that money and continue to do what they're doing" she says. "I want someone—like a little Angie somewhere out there—to get the same things that I did. And from the people that were so selflessly willing to help me."
