Growing up religious, Sunday’s were sacred. We spent the day learning at church and resting. But after church I would drive up to the canyon and spend time surrounded by nature. A place I personally felt the spirit stronger than I ever did sitting in a church. Id then head home and stay up until 3am most of those nights in my room just scavenging the internet for new music, inspiration, building mood boards and a lot of the time testing out those ideas on myself doing self portraits. At that time my “studio” set up was a black Harry Potter Snuggie draped over my closet doors, a lamp shining on me (that I still own and it resides in my office at the studio as a sentimental decor piece) and my camera stacked on a chair with some books and shirts stuffed under the lens to hold it upright.
Even though I’m not religious anymore, Sunday’s still feel sacred to me. Since my faith transition, growing older and starting my own business, Sunday’s have easily become blurred into the rest of the week. But I decided last month that I want to go back to having Sunday’s be intentional. It will always be the day I feel most inspired and creative and a big reason we keep the studio open on Sunday’s for people to use.
So happy Sunday everyone, however you’re spending your day. I’ll be planning styled shoots/content days for you guys, finding new music and sitting outside ✨
