After seeing numerous videos of this viral deep fried beef cutlet, I knew I had to try it!
I went to the Tokyo location near the Asakusa Shrine and waited 30 minutes before it opened to make sure I got first seating.
Gyukatsu Motomura uses wagyu beef for their cutlets. Each set comes with small plates of wasabi, soy sauce, and horseradish/onion sauce.
The golden, breadcrumb-crusted slabs of wagyu will arrive rare, which you can then cook to your liking on your personal hot stone board. Motomura’s website recommends cooking the beef for no longer than 60 seconds between both sides.
The beef was very rich and melted in my mouth. It was a super fragrant experience and the best beef I had in Japan. I was a happy girl. 🥹
