Dusky leaf monkeys are born with a very colourful coat, typically orange or bright yellow because most predators are colour-blind and would in fact not be able to tell the difference between orange and green. This colour is nature's design to make their mothers see their babies clearly while hiding them from predators. During the first 6 months of their lives, the vivid orange colour gradually turns to grey. ⁠ ⁠ This species is otherwise called the 'Spectacled Langur'.
