🌳There are very few occasions that a developmental gap is presented to me and I can’t figure out a way to address that goal outside in nature. 🌳Before I get the haters...I am fully aware that there are circumstances that outside in nature is not the appropriate therapeutic environment. I work PRN in an acute care hospital for spinal cord and traumatic brain injury. I am fully aware that given medical severity and complexity, sometimes it just isn’t appropriate. But guess what, I still get those patients outside. Many times I have rolled entire hospital beds outside for patients who are on precautions and therefore can’t get out of bed. Don’t tell me those patients didn’t desperately need the outdoors. 🌳With that said, let me get back on topic. Throw at me pretty much any therapeutic goal for a child and you won’t find me speechless for how I can address that goal in nature. 🌳Not to mention, while I am working on said goals, the child is receiving the naturally occurring, God created, benefits of nature. 🤯 🌳It’s pretty fantastic, and I am thankful every single day I get to do this work. If your curious about it, just try it. Take one treatment session outside. You don’t have to shift your entire practice outdoors all at once.
