September 30 is Orange Shirt Day and marks the second official National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A day set aside to commemorate the Survivors of Residential Schools, their families, and communities, as well as, the children who never came home. Today, Heritage House staff are taking time to read, listen, and learn from Residential School survivors and their communities. We are fortunate to work with many talented Indigenous authors and artists. It has been an honour to help them telling their stories, and we look forward to continuing to publish and promote Indigenous authors and artists. For more resources about Truth and Reconciliation, as well as ways to support Indigenous artists and creators, see @victoriaorangeshirtday and @nctr_um. This day can be especially difficult for Residential School Survivors and their families. Please reach out if you need help.
