- The garment worn here is known as “Ndjaxass” in Sénégal. Commonly worn by the Baye/Yaye Fall community. - An interpretation of the history of this specific cut of garment is as follows: - Paired with their way of life rooted within Communalism - which the Baye Fall exudes the most out of any spiritual sect out of Sénégal to this day - the Baye Fall community always had a habit which draws from the philosophy of sustainability. As they put in so much manual labor, their garments were, many times torn apart. They would then stitch/fill the gap with a different fabric. In many cases, one would end up having so many stitchings of a myriad of fabrics. Which would then become a work of art with purpose and proper function. - “The root word of “Ndjaxass” is Djaxassé. Which means “to mix”. 📱: @assane_gaaye Creative Direction: @666night.skin The stills to this will remain in the vault for a project coming soon.
