Station is a love song to happiness. I wrote it during a long depression when I couldn’t see happiness returning or coming back to me, the mournful line “I’ve been standing at your station, and I’ve been holding up your name” stayed with me for 5 years whilst trying to write a new record. It’s only when the other songs on Trust came to me that I could sense a change in narrative for this song.
