Group chats blowing up, last minute plans, rides running late, and that low level anxiety of trying to be everywhere at once. Basel is usually a blur for me and @acqualinaresort became the reset button. I’d come back after a long day of art, conversations, and overstimulation, kick off my shoes, and immediately feel my nervous system unclench. No scene. No chaos. Just space, light, and that rare feeling of being able to hear your own thoughts again. There was something grounding about starting my mornings there. Coffee in hand, moving slowly, pretending for a moment that my only responsibility was deciding when to leave the room. At night, it felt like a soft landing pad after Basel did what Basel does best: overwhelm you in the best way possible. What surprised me most was how much it felt like a holiday stay. The kind of place where you could imagine staying an extra day “by accident” and not telling anyone. If Art Basel is a sprint, @acqualinaresort resort was the stretch, the breath, the laugh you let out when you finally sit down.
