Non-Prosthetic Aging FYC Outstanding Period/Character Makeup (Non prosthetic) We opted to not use prosthetics for any of the character aging after discussing with Director/ Creator Antonio Campos we did a test makeup and got it down to a T. The process and the steps became second nature. @sonia_makeupartist aged the actors hands using a combination of airbrushing and hand painting details like veins, while I hand painted redness and broken capillaries on the face. After that Sonia would come in and airbrush some shadows and the first layer of age spots. Following this step we would begin the stretch and stipple using Bluebird old age @alliedfxco Although stretch and stipple can seem like a very straightforward technique it is very important to consider how much and what direction you are stretching the skin. Not doing this correctly can cause some unnatural wrinkles. In the timelapse, on my previous post you can see Sonia stretching the skin as I apply the Bluebird making sure that there is a nice seamless blend. This was probably the longest part of the makeup as we had to dry each layer. For each jump in age progression we would had a layer. 2007 was only around the eyes, 2010/11 progressed to full face and 2017 was 3 layers. After completing that part Sonia would go back in with the airbrush to add a mottled skin effect. We used a combination of light and dark @skinillustratorofficial colors to make skin appear blotchy and add some irregularity as skin changes when we age. After this step I would do some more hand painting completing the detail work. Adding the more noticeable age spots by hand so that it matched continuity everytime.
