The Lion City. In Braunschweig you can enjoy the versatile offers of a historically-developed big city with the special charm of a vibrant city centre and green recreational oases. First documented in 1031, Braunschweig is the largest town between Hanover and Berlin and has approx. 250,000 inhabitants. My favorite part of the city is one of the oldest city quarters, the Magni Quarter with its centrally located Magni church square and the Magni church, founded in the 11th century. The quarter is made up of a cohesive group of half-timbered houses, which are home to small cafés and shops.
