A BRIEF (5min) SCIENCE-BASED PROTOCOL THAT SYNERGISTICALLY COMBINES GOAL SETTING, MOTIVATION & EMOTIONAL HEALTH• - I’ve never really been one for making lists, until recently when a colleague in the medical field (who will soon be a guest on the Huberman Lab podcast) shared with me a protocol that takes about five minutes each morning. We will get into the mechanisms behind it on an HLP episode soon, but I felt it too valuable not to share now, especially heading into the new year. - What’s great about this protocol is that it simultaneously captures key elements of the science of goal setting and seeking, emotional health, and motivation. It’s also very quick to complete. One word answers are fine. - All too often, the different protocols and lists that we make have competing elements. For instance, the to-do list is often out competed by an emotional state later in the day or vice versa. That’s because nothing exists in a vacuum. The nervous system functions as a set of (often competing) parts. This list protocol brings together the different elements in a synergistic way. - Don’t overthink it. Just try it for a week or so and see how it shapes your productivity, focus, and well-being. If you don’t notice much, then drop it.
