Adele has described her decision to cancel a Las Vegas residency as the “worst moment of my career” and promised to “nail” the rescheduled shows.
The British singer-songwriter used an interview with Elle magazine to give her most detailed explanation yet of her reasoning.
“There was just no soul in it,” she said. “The stage set-up wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.”
The rescheduled show, Weekends with Adele at Caesars Palace, will run from November to March.
Adele said: “It was the worst moment in my career, by far. I was so excited about those shows. It was devastating.” She added that she was “embarrassed” and the first couple of months were “really hard”.
However, the star said she was “right to do it now” and excited to finally share in the communal enjoyment of her new music.
