Dear Granny! Today we celebrate International Women’s Day. And if there is one woman who I would think of as the most inspiring woman I know, I would name you. You were born as Goldie Emma Lorenzen in Washta, Iowa (USA) in 1936. And you made it all the way to Lemgo in Ostwestfalen Lippe, where you died in St. Loyen, Lemgo on 9th January 2021, shortly after I took this portrait of you. If there was a description for you, you'd be a muse. You set a good and graceful example for us as an independent woman. And so you sent us, all those Ladies in our family, on a well-founded way. A basic trust in life and the knowledge that there is always an elegant solution are deeply anchored within me. We never discussed emancipation. You set an example for us. Not only art and culture were important pillars in your life, you were ahead of your time and you would be a good Fridays for Future Granny. Today I think a lot about you and I am very grateful for the values and attitude to life that you have given me.
