Happy birthday National Trust 🎉 We were founded on this day in 1895, and for the last 128 years we’ve been caring for nature, beauty and history for everyone. The first house to come into our care was Alfriston Clergy House in East Sussex, which was bought for £10. All these years later we care for: 👩‍🌾 more than 200 gardens and parks 🏖️ 780 miles of coastline 🔎 92,660 archaeological sites 🌳 almost 33,200 hectares of woodland 🚨 11 lighthouses 🍻 39 pubs and inns 🖼️ over 1 million collection items 🌿 98,800 hectares of moorland, and much more It wouldn’t be possible to continue the vital conservation work without our supporters, members, and volunteers.
