Ploo was founded by Chef Pablo Rojas and Chef Roxanna Mejia and is currently located in @ollyollymarket. I’ve visited Ploo multiple times and have fallen in love with their tacos, tostadas, and other menu items. However, this time... I tried their newly released 5 course dinner tasting menu with wine and beverage pairings (RESERVATIONS AVAILABLE via Ploo’s Instagram link in bio or Resy). Ploo’s food is incredible. The 5 courses consisted of their Yellowfin Ceviche Tostada, Anchor Fish Taco, Machete, Pjörk Carnitas Taco, and Tongue-N-Cheek Taco. Pablo and Roxanna worked at Per Se together and are classically trained in fine dining. Their profound culinary experience, passion for good food, and attention to detail shine through. During the tasting, Pablo and Roxanna expertly curate wine and beverage pairings that complement the tasting menu. For example, the Anchor Fish Taco was refreshingly paired with Misión white wine. The tasting is a versatile one and offers a little bit of everything. Premium, gourmet ingredients fill up their handmade tortillas and street/comfort food favorites like the Machete (a foot-long handmade flour tortilla with melted Oaxaca cheese, sirloin steak and grilled onions, and other fillings) can be devoured while indulging in a Michelada.
