How ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’ won me over ♥️ JugJugg Jeeyo that made waves on both sides of the border courtesy ‘Nach Punjabban’ proved to be a lot more than I expected!!️ Judging solely by its trailer one would assume the movie to be yet another comedy-drama however it turns out to be an intelligently executed affair balancing family, drama, emotions,comedy and entertainment👏🏼👏🏼 While many movies in the genre solely rest on a hit soundtrack, starcast and comic banter, JJJ did feature one particular moment that completely turned me into a fan. Without spoiling much, a scene featuring Neetu Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan although short delivers a strong message!!️ Many might not be able to understand the gravity of this interaction between a mother, son and his wife but you’d realise it’s importance especially when our own locally produced content has regressed to glorifying sons slap and berate their wives at the behest of their mothers🙄 While Geeta (Kapoor) tolerates her son Kuku’s (Dhawan) aggressive tone with herself she is quick to reprimand and give him a shut up call as soon as he behaves rudely with his wife Naina (Advani)... The scene gains more impact when you realise how Geeta who is shown as this stereotypical housewife is more “woke” than the “educated and elite” mothers we see on screen in Pakistani dramas where they demand for their sons to torture their wives!!️ Another aspect that adds to the brilliance of this scene is how Geeta snaps when Kuku raises his voice at Naina whereas she stayed quiet as he talked to her... showing that she may allow his tantrums at her as a mother but she’d not stand for them towards his wife👏👏 Of course the scene wouldn’t have left such affect without the brilliant performances especially Neetu Kapoor... it’s safe to say she is winning over an entire generation that may not be familiar with her past work♥️ Movies and dramas may be a reflection of society but there’s a difference in being a mirror and overexposure —— Our storytelling needs to focus more on the values, the change we wish to see rather than banking on everything that’s wrong but “selling”!!️
