Haven’t really shared this on social media, but after months of waiting, testing, and more waiting, tomorrow morning I have the pleasure of donating my kidney to this amazing woman I’m lucky enough to call Gram 💕
5 years ago she was diagnosed with Microscopic Polyangitis. This disease directly attacked her kidneys leaving her with very little kidney function. She’s been on home dialysis for the last 9 months, meaning she’s essentially chained to her house. No traveling, no sleepovers anywhere else, and long nights hooked up to machines.
As soon as I heard she needed a donation, it wasn’t even a conversation I had to have with myself. I just knew immediately it’s something I needed to do (If approved). I knew no matter the risk, pain, or changes I had to make in my own life, I had to do whatever it took to make sure she was able to live the rest of her life as healthy as possible and can get back to actually living an active life.
She has shaped me into the person I am today and has taught me so much and shown me so much love, that this doesn’t even feel like it is enough to “repay” her for everything she has done for me.
I’m not a religious person, but I’m asking for positive vibes, thoughts, and if you do pray, prayers for us tomorrow. 💕✨
