“Today’s decision is expected, but no less devastating for Mississippians. Abortion access is essential to reproductive justice and the human right to bodily autonomy particularly in Mississippi where this case was decided and where anti-abortion laws have already hurt Black folks the most. But even with today’s decision, the courts do not decide our destiny—WE DO. As Abortion Freedom Fighters, SHERo will continue to fight for people to have access to abortion without barriers or restrictions. We will continue organizing and collaborating with abortion funds and grassroots activists to get folks the care they need. Everyone deserves the right to have an abortion on their own terms, free of political interference, fear of criminalization, and stigma. Abortion is liberation and our fight doesn’t stop until each and every one of us is liberated.” Michelle Colón Co-Founder & Executive DirectorSHERo Mississippi
